Campaigner of the Year?
Tuesday 4th November 2008, 2:55PM GMT.
A BRAVE mother whose moving story played a fundamental role in pushing through Jersey’s new rear seatbelt law has been nominated for a national award.
Teresa Phillips, from St Martin, is one of the three finalists from Great Britain competing for the title of
Campaigner of the Year in the Headway annual awards.
As part of the campaign, led by Headway Jersey, Teresa told the Island’s media her personal story of how she sustained a serious brain injury in her home town in Essex 26 years ago, when she was just 19 years old.
Teresa – who is now a volunteer at the brain injury charity – became involved with Headway’s campaign to make it law to belt up in the back.
