Chance of revenge

NINE Jersey footballers have been granted a second chance to avenge last year’s Island Games exit by Gibraltar with selection to the Island squad for this weekend’s international triangular tournament.
Jersey, who were knocked out by Gibraltar, on goals scored, in the group stages after the teams drew 1-1 in Rhodes, face the Island Games champions in their opening tie of the tournament on Saturday.
Manager Dave Kennedy (pictured) believes Jersey has a ‘realistic chance’ of winning the competition, although they must also face a relatively unknown team from Madeira on Sunday.
He said: ‘Gibraltar are the reigning Island Games champions, but we were minutes away from putting them out of the tournament last year, so we are looking forward to the game with them on Saturday.
