Photographer in the frame for UK awards

A JERSEY photographer is hoping for national success after four of his pictures were selected for a prestigious competition.
Steve Wellum (50) will compete against photographers from all over Britain in the Fujifilm Envisage Awards next January.
The awards showcase the best talent of members of the Master Photographers Association and the British Institute of Professional Photography. Each month photographers have the opportunity to enter the competition – and those who receive merits are put forward to the final in January.
Mr Wellum (pictured) said: ‘I’m over the moon. To get four merits is a good achievement. ‘It’s always nice to have my work recognised and I’m keeping my fingers crossed for them all. I have got the bit between my teeth now and would definitely like to enter some more of my work before the awards in January.’
The entries which have been selected for the final are pictures of youngster Paige Higgins, five-year-old Jack Masterman, two-year-old Ella Curran, and a newborn baby whose parents have asked not to be identified.
