Thanks everyone, it means so much

From Dennis Shore.
PLEASE may I use your paper to express my thanks to all the mums and dads I see on the morning run into work, as they drop their children off to the various schools around the Five Oaks to St Saviour’s Road area?
Having recently changed my mode of transport, when the weather permits, to a motorbike to both reduce my carbon footprint and minimise the effect I have on traffic congestion, it is fantastic to see gestures of encouragement. Some wave with one finger as I go past, others use two, the whole fist is also waved occasionally, and some are so pleased to see me they use their horns to make sure I see them and to let others know to make room for my wife and me as we pass.
It is so disappointing during the school holidays that my new friends are unable to see me in the mornings, and I may miss them anyway as I have a boring effortless trip into the office in just a few minutes compared to the 40 it takes during term time.
So, I am sorry I can’t wave back as I need both hands to drive, but their support is appreciated.

Amusing letter, however as a fellow biker I am concerned as to why Mr Shore seems to attract so much attention from car drivers. In my daily commute I do not receive such a welcome, in fact it is generally car drivers (usually on the phone or talking to the children in the rear) pulling out on me from junctions who receive a taste of MY horn. Maybe Mr Shore is one of those bikers who ignore the rules of the road and give us a bad name?

They are waving back at you because they are jealous you get though the traffic quicker than them. Maybe they need to start walking to school instead.
