How about a drop in future electricity charges?
Thursday 6th November 2008, 2:58PM GMT.
From Paul Moullin.
NOT so long ago we were informed that due to rising world fuel costs our electricity bill would have to be significantly increased by about 25%.
Now that we are entering a world recession and the price of fuel has significantly dropped in price, shall we also see this reflected in the price? Shall we also see this reflected in our future electricity charges?
That would make a welcome change, wouldn’t it?

We are being ripped off anyway.
(Virtually) all our electric comes from Nuclear – so how does the price of oil affect that anyways?
Rip off Jersey.

All of our electricty comes from France. France provides many other bordering countries and the UK with electricity as they have built enough nuclear power stations to power their own country and sell huge amounts of surplus off. Many of the nuclear power stations were built using money raised from taxes in return the French pay a low rate for their electricity, and sell the rest on to other countries and islands at a much higher rate to compensate and make a profit. Some people see it as the French ripping everyone else off, but any sane person would see it as bloody good business and governance. If jersey had spent half of what it has wasted on the reclamation of the waterfront and all the other mad hat failed schemes we would could be supplying ourselves with cheap electricity and possibly selling some on to the other Channel Islands.
