In an e-mail to all States Members earlier this week, Deputy Breckon said that Deputy de Faye’s non attendance was ‘arrogant’ and showed a lack of respect for voters. Yesterday in an e-mailed response to all Members, Deputy de Faye hinted that Deputy Breckon had simply tried to stir up trouble on behalf of his Consumer Council assistant, Suzette Hase, who is standing for election in the same St Helier district.

He said: ‘I was very disappointed to read your e-mail which you saw fit to send out to all States Members. ‘To say the least, it was not very statesmanlike behaviour for a Senator-elect. On the subject of courtesy, may I remind you that you are still a Deputy for St Saviour and it rather ill behoves your parochial status to start making commentaries on another parish’s nominations meeting, although I do understand your intense personal concern for one of the candidates in St Helier No 3/4 – Suzette Hase – whom I understand is your assistant at the Consumer Council.’

Deputy Breckon yesterday denied that he sent the e-mail to stir up trouble on behalf of Miss Hase. He told the JEP: ‘It had nothing to do with the district. I was disgusted that he and Deputy Jacqui Huet didn’t attend.
