In search of Dolans

Alan Smith and his wife are trying to trace members of her family in Jersey, or anyone who might know of them.

They do not have a lot of information to go on and are hoping that our appeal might help.

‘We have scant information,’ says Mr Smith. ‘My wife lost contact with her father and stepmother in her early teens, but what we have may help.

‘My wife’s father, Joseph Dolan, married Yvonne Francine Lehoullier in 1946 at Hyde (Cheshire) Register Office. His first wife Lillian (my wife’s mother) having died some years earlier.

They later left the UK and took up residence in Jersey. The only address my wife has is Holdsforth, Langley Park, St Saviour but that goes back more than 35 years.’

The couple say that the Superintendent Registrar was able to tell them that a Joseph Dolan, aged 74, died in the General hospital on 9 Aug 1985 and is buried in Surville Cemetery, St Helier (plot 66cc).

‘We believe this could be my wife’s father,’ says Mr Smith. ‘Could you help to confirm this and also help to trace any living relatives that may still reside in Jersey?’
