Card shop seeks new home

Every festive season Cards For Good Causes opens a shop at the Town Church with 79p in every £1 raised going to charities like Barnardo’s, Cancer Research UK and Help the Aged.

But next year the shop will be homeless while the inside of the church is being renovated and the organisers are keen to find a temporary venue for the shop.

Jill Bartholomew, who has taken over from Peter Woodall as manager of the shop, said that they will definitely need a new venue for next year and perhaps even for 2010, and that they will consider anywhere as long as it is central and will get passing trade. ‘We are desperately seeking a new venue certainly for 2009 and most probably for the 2010 season,’ she said.

• People wanting to offer the shop a home for next year can contact Miss Bartholomew on 733272.
