Thief takes veteran’s war medals
Monday 10th November 2008, 2:58PM GMT.
A FORMER soldier who served in the Gulf War had his flat broken into and his war medals stolen on the eve of Remembrance Sunday.
Lee Madden (40), of Havre des Pas, was planning to wear his medals during the Remembrance Day service at the Cenotaph yesterday.
He was asleep in his flat when someone broke in on Saturday and took the ‘hugely sentimental’ items, along with his laptop and some cash.
‘They’re irreplaceable,’ he said. ‘It’s like losing your wedding or engagement ring.’ He added that he felt ‘naked’ at the commemorations yesterday without his medals. ‘Those medals represent the colleagues who I lost earning those medals.’

Scumbags – Like the fake poppy collectors this year. Should be dropped into a warzone if caught.
