Christmas Scrooges have already got

IT is unbelievable that attempts are already being made to deny Senator Stuart Syvret the right to make his Christmas speech in the House.
Bear in mind that he is the Father of the House and still the most popular politician in tjhe Island by a long way. Undoubtedly, the charge will be led by the inarticulate Senator Terry Le Main. Few of the current politicians could rival Senator Syvret in oratory or intelligence. This is an observation, not a criticism.
On Liberation Day, the Bailiff presented a speech which, instead of concentrating on the suffering, indignation, starvation, deportation, imprisonment and great loss of life of those brave people, was political in tone and betrayed the significance of the day in or-der to stay in tune with the Establishment. Could Senator Syvret produce anything more revolting than that? I don’t think so.
The current ‘them and us’ situation is more prevalent in Jersey than anywhere in Europe. Anyone who does not agree entirely with just about everything the Establishment says is branded a ‘leftie’.
However, the political situation in Jersey will change, albeit slowly. The youthful, illuminating breed of potential politicians will ensure that this will happen.
Move over, old school . . . You’ve had your kick at the ball.

I fear the so called ‘youngsters’ do not understand Jersey economy and way of life well enough to make any changes. And we have heard this all before.
