A quite important person but not a very important person

I WAS saddened to read two reports on successive nights which read more like Communications Unit reports than the work of one of your senior reporters.
Much play was made of the fact that the group led by Senator Walker met the vice-president of the French Republic, as if to suggest that they were meeting the second most important person to President Sarkozy.
My understanding, however, is that the role is totally eclipsed by that of the French Prime Minister, who is second in power and influence to the president.
