Happy Birthday to a special visitor
Friday 14th November 2008, 2:57PM GMT.
HIS Royal Highness the Prince of Wales celebrates his 60th birthday today with a private reception at Buckingham Palace.
The heir to the throne and future Duke of Normandy has visited Jersey three times, the latest of which was in 2004, when the Island celebrated 800 years of links with the British Crown.
During that visit he attended a special States sitting at Mont Orgueil and illuminated a holographic picture of the Queen at the Jersey Museum. Prince Charles first came to the Island in 1968 on a private visit to an archaeological dig at La Cotte. He also visited in May 1995 on an official Royal visit.
During his birthday week the Prince has dined with the French President, Nicholas Sarkozy, as part of Remembrance Day events and tomorrow will hold a birthday party at his home at Highgrove with friends and
family, with entertainment provided by singer Rod Stewart.
Below are a selection of pictures from the Prince’s three visits to the Island.
