Probe into house blaze
Monday 17th November 2008, 2:55PM GMT.
AN investigation has been launched following a fire which severely damaged a bungalow in St Brelade on Friday.
Firefighters were called out at about 4 pm after smoke was seen pouring out of the property in Les Landes Avenue.
Fifteen firefighters attended and four officers wearing breathing apparatus entered the property and quickly extinguished the fire. The kitchen and utility room were severely damaged by fire and the rest of the house was affected by smoke. No one was inside the property at the time of the fire.
Firefighters left the scene at about 10.30 pm after the house had been boarded up. Station manager Jason Masterman said that they were working closely with scenes of crime police officers to determine the cause of the blaze. He said: ‘We don’t know where the fire started or what caused it, but a full investigation is under way.’
