Terry should have gone to New York
Monday 17th November 2008, 2:58PM GMT.
From John Rice.
DO you think it would have been money well spent if we had managed to send our Treasury and Resources Minister to New York for the recent meeting of ministers?
He would have heard government ministers from the rest of the world giving tax cuts to their countrymen as a way to protect them from the recession. This 20% means 20%, like our Goods and Services Tax, is another hit on the less well-off and even hurts the next layer up, who have suffered and are suffering big hits on their savings.

Terry could take a walk around St Helier and ask the shopkeepers and restaraunteurs how their takings are holding up.
RBS is getting rid of 3,000 staff worldwide and the Jersey branch employs a 1,000 people, Citigroup is getting rid of 75,000 and the Jersey branch employs a 100.
Most of the other banks must be thinking of economy measures and the island would be incredibly lucky to escape unscathed.
