RWB retain CI Club title
Wednesday 19th November 2008, 2:58PM GMT.
RWB won the Channel Islands Club Championship on Sunday – for the seventh consecutive time.
Jersey’s current hockey champions, who have not had the best of starts to their Investec League programme, defeated Jersey Ladies 4-0 in the final to retain the Ethel Southern Trophy.
Victorious coach Raydene Stacey was delighted with her team’s efforts. Stacey said: ‘We scored 24 goals and that was a great achievement. Everyone gave it their full commitment from start to finish and I really believed we finished deserved winners.’
Matches were played on an overcast day at the Claremont Field and at Les Quennevais. At Claremont, RWB began their defence of the silverware with a convincing victory over JExpress Nomads, who had beaten them on their previous meeting.
