Last year Jersey’s squad had a terrific run in the competition and their dream of a first-ever English Schools’ Football Association’s cup final only ended following a 3-2 semi-final defeat by Brighton at Springfield.

Four players remain from last year’s successful squad – defender Matthew Rondel and midfielders Nick Carpenter, Charlie Petulla and Marco Zocchi although the latter misses out due to a bruised foot. Jersey play at Gosport and Fareham and the Island squad have trained well and are prepared for the tough task that lies ahead.

Jersey coach Russell Le Feuvre, who is being assisted by Craig Northedge and James Scott, said: ‘Everyone is looking forward to the game. We had a great run in the competition last year but this is a new squad and a good squad in their own right.’
