Victoria poised to clinch Channel Islands crown
Thursday 20th November 2008, 2:59PM GMT.
DRAW specialists Hautlieu scored a last-minute equaliser for the second time this season against Channel Islands Under-18 Schools’ League champions Victoria College yesterday at Oakfield.
In a match shortened because of failing light, both schools retained their unbeaten records in the competition following a 2-2 draw as Hautlieu registered their fifth draw in six games. Hautlieu’s Tom Brennan equalised twice from distance after Daniel Tardivel and Sam de la Haye had given Victoria the advantage.
This puts Victoria four points clear of second-placed Guernsey College of Further Education while Guernsey Grammar, who play De La Salle today and Victoria tomorrow, are seven points behind Victoria with four matches to play while Victoria have two remaining.
De La Salle meet Grammar at the FB Fields today while the Guernsey visitors face Victoria tomorrow at College Field in a game that could decide the championship. Both matches kick-off at 2 pm.
