Trinity war game gets go-ahead

Yesterday Christopher Pace received permission to change field 1443, Route des Côtes du Nord, just up from Rozel Harbour, into commercial recreational use for Airsofting for a one year trial.

Airsofting enthusiasts will soon have the chance to play the sport on fortnightly weekends and Mr Pace plans to do corporate and ‘walk-on’ days.

At the Planning applications panel meeting yesterday lawyer Paul de Gruchy objected to the plans. He said: ‘Airsofting is illegal in some countries and regulated in others. Sometimes it can involve pyrotechnics such as grenades, smoke bombs and rocket launchers, and some people use the bushes for camouflage and they might pull them down.’

Good luck to them – if it’s a privately owned field or whatever then so long as they don’t upset anyone or cause any harm that’s fine.

Is Field 1443 completely wooded? How are Planning going to judge the year’s trial as positive or negative? Have they done an ecological survey to assess the site? If they haven’t, then any decision such as this is unfortunate in my view. It might be excellent terrain for paintballing, but might it not have value as countryside?

As an airsofter I have to say that is the craziest thing I’ve heard in a long while!

Why would I want to pull down perfectly good cover?!?

If anyting we will want the area to thrive with bushes and trees as it makes for a more interesting playing field.

i will be down there for the 1st time this weekend. Cant wait to have a proper area to fight rather than have small wars with friends in back gardens and fields.
