And people who do not have licences but are thinking of applying for one are welcome to enrol, too. The licensing course has been developed by Highlands College alongside the British Institute of Innkeeping Awarding Body.

People can enrol early in the new year for the BIIAB Award in Jersey Licensing Law, which is an additional qualification to the existing BIIAB Level 2 National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders.

The head of qualifications at BIIAB, Michelle DeBrett-Watson, said: ‘The new award will help people to become fully aware of their responsibilities under the licensing law while working in the Island. They will also be able to apply for a personal licence and work in the UK.’
