We have cut our ties with Time4Change
Tuesday 25th November 2008, 2:58PM GMT.
From David Rotherham, acting secretary, JDA.
JOHN Craddock (JEP, 22 November) raises several interesting points about the Jersey Democratic Alliance and Time4Change.
However, some of his suggestions are mistaken, and I am in a position to correct them for him. While I am no longer involved in Time4Change, I can, as custodian of the JDA membership list, confirm that the only current JDA members standing in this year’s Senatorials were Geoff Southern and Trevor Pitman. Although the JDA supported and published Nick Palmer’s work on the incinerator, his status was that of independent adviser.
Three other candidates in both elections are former JDA members, whose ties are now thoroughly severed at both ends. Mr Craddock is also wrong in his assumption that the JDA and T4C are a joint body. Although some JDA members were initially involved in founding T4C, the latter soon developed in a manner that posed a conflict of interest for JDA members.
This necessitated all conflicted members leaving one group or the other. The groups are wholly separate by constitution and have not formally communicated since Deputy Southern accepted T4C’s invitation to speak at their GST rally.
