Election result: St Brelade No 2

st_brelade22.gifAnother unsuccessful candidate in last month’s Senatorial elections, Montfort Tadier, won a Deputy’s seat in St Brelade No 2.

A member of the Time4Change party, Mr Tadier, came a clear second in a field of eight with 758 votes.

Sitting Deputy Sean Power was a comfortabe winner with 1,068.

    A result such as this just proves that persons with no experience can add to their chances of a States post by a whimisical run for Senator. Electoral reform is essential as we now face three years of Deputies elected for superior publicity rather than sound policies.

    It seems more and more to me that Tadier’s event with daffodils at the beginning of this year was more of a political stunt for his own future.

    The rally this spring was very moving. What a shame that a sincere attempt at offering empathy to a community of victims is cynically viewed as a tactic at personal gain. If more Jersey islanders acted instead of just talking, more problems might get solved.

    What Monty has shown is empathy for people, and now he is in the states.
