0480905_cropped.jpgTHE future certainly looks bright for youngsters wanting to take up triathlon in Jersey.

Several initiatives have been launched to encourage participation and excellence in the sport. The Jersey TC, one of the oldest triathlon clubs in the UK, are introducing their first junior section next year which will provide training and competition for boys and girls aged eight and over.

This will be overlooked by Jersey triathlon’s first business development officer, Daniel Halksworth, a Commonwealth Games swimmer who has aspirations to be a professional and world class triathlete.

And the youngsters will be chasing a superb trophy every year, given in memory of one of Jersey triathlon’s greatest ambassadors, Michael Lucas, who passed away last year. The trophy, donated by John Falle of Falle’s Fine Arts, and presented to the club by Michael’s widow Audrey, will represent the pinnacle of junior triathlon achievement in the Island.
