Well done for approving the new incinerator
Thursday 27th November 2008, 2:55PM GMT.
From Bridget Murphy.
WITH reference to your correspondent Terry Connor’s letter (22 November), I say ‘well done’ to any architect or designer who tries to improve the appearance of any industrial installation or plant site.
I refer, of course, to the new incinerator. Industrial sites are not meant to look like tinsel town with Father Christmas coming down the chimney.
I congratulate the States for approving the purchase of this incinerator. We need a large one to cover any unforeseen circumstances and we can still recycle what we can. As for the price, we usually get what we pay for.
As Oscar Wilde so succinctly put it: ‘Some people know the price of everything and the value of nothing.’

That’s all well and good Bridget but what about the industrial muck the people who live around this ‘industrial site’ will have to endure both in the building of this monstrosity and the roads and streets which lead to it? I hope all your predications of clean air and industrial well-being are right!
