Top netball players join centre of excellence
Saturday 29th November 2008, 9:59AM GMT.
SOME of the Island’s most promising junior netball players have been signed to this season’s PricewaterhouseCoopers School of Excellence Programme.
The initiative offers 20 of the Island’s most talented youngsters the opportunity to train at the highest level and dramatically improve their abilities through an academy scheme.
A further 21 juniors have been selected to a development group, which will enable more players with great potential to benefit from specialist coaching and advice. PwC School of Excellence co-ordinator Linda Andrews said: ‘We cover all aspects of the physical and mental side of the game, including core strength, speed and agility, and endurance, as well as offering talks on nutrition and personal development.’
Next week the Academy welcomes back south west talent performance coach and England and Team Bath netballer Jo Binns, who has just returned from the England team’s tour of Australia and New Zealand. She will be taking another session with the Academy girls at Haute Vallée next Wednesday between 6 pm and 8 pm.
