Finance firms and States officials were due to fly to Mumbai tomorrow for the start of a week-long promotional tour, including a visit to Delhi, but were forced to reassess their plans following Thursday’s terrorist attacks.

The trip, organised by Jersey Finance, would have included representatives from 13 finance firms and a senior officer from the States Economic Development Department. They were due to spend a few days in Mumbai and stay at the Oberoi Trident Hotel, which is one of two hotels targeted by the terrorists, before going on to Delhi.

It has now been decided that a smaller delegation will go straight to Delhi and avoid Mumbai altogether. Four of the delegates will go ahead with this second part of the visit to Delhi and are due to fly out on Tuesday. Heading the delegation on behalf of the Island’s government will be Martin de Forest Brown, adviser to the Chief Minister on international finance (pictured).
