Kittens killed in fire tragedy
Monday 1st December 2008, 2:57PM GMT.
A FAMILY has been left devastated after a fire severely damaged their home and killed their kittens.
Firefighters were called out when a family member returned to the house in Clos Gosset, St Saviour, on Saturday afternoon to find thick black smoke pouring out of the front door.
Nine firefighters tackled the blaze, which is believed to have been caused by a faulty fishtank filter unit, and removed the unconscious kittens from the property. Paramedics tried desperately to resuscitate the pets but were unable to revive them.
The downstairs rooms suffered severe smoke and heat damage. The family of six spent the night in a bed and breakfast establishment before starting the clear-up operation.
