Tourism staff get jobs guarantee
Thursday 4th December 2008, 3:00PM GMT.
STAFF at Jersey Tourism will keep their jobs when the department is turned into a private-public partnership next year.
The revolutionary move to fund Jersey’s tourism industry with both private and public money was given support by the Council of Ministers last week.
Economic Development chief executive Mike King (pictured) has assured Jersey Tourism employees that they will all have jobs in the new organisation, provisionally called Marketing Jersey. ‘I would expect all the Jersey Tourism staff to be transferred to the new organisation,’ he said.
‘I have a duty of care over those individuals. Jersey Tourism is a very good organisation and the teams work extremely well together. I won’t allow that team to be broken up in this process. I think they are all very good and will be good in the new organisation.’
