FOR some time now 16-year-olds have had the right to marry and have children (often unable to provide properly for their upkeep).

The States ensured that 16-year-olds won the right to be homosexual and lesbian. I sat in the States Gallery that day horrified! A short time before the latest elections, 16-year-olds were given the right to vote.

Now it is reported that a law is to be introduced to prevent ‘children’ up to 18 years from buying harmful products. If only our States Members understood the three important human qualities so necessary to produce wise decisions:
• Many people have vast amounts of knowledge.
•  Some people know how to use that knowledge intelligently.
• Very few people know how to use that intelligence wisely.

Wisdom comes through experience and time – not when you are 16,18 or even 21. Very sadly, many people are put into positions of considerable authority without acquiring that final human quality of wisdom. That is why bad decisions are made.
