IT experts to get together online
Tuesday 9th December 2008, 2:59PM GMT.
A NEW web community has been set up specifically for IT professionals in Jersey.
The website www.itjersey.com has been set up by Simon Brown, a software architect who has recently returned to the Island with his wife, Kirstie, and two daughters after 12 years working in the UK.
Mr Brown, who is a senior consultant at C5 Alliance, said that when he was thinking about moving back to the Island he had tried to find out whether there were other people here working in the same field, but without much success initially. ‘There are several firms here and some are really good, on a par with London,’ he said.
The online community site is similar to something he developed in the UK and which worked successfully there.
It includes local blog and news links and a ‘Google group’ free forum where people can share ideas and discuss technology at their own level. ‘It’s about pooling the people in one place, and also for people looking to get into IT,’ he said.
