A Christmas gift for Izzy

00607373_cropped.jpgA COUPLE whose son suffered terrible brain damage during an operation that went tragically wrong have had their prayers answered in time for Christmas.

In Saturday’s JEP, Emma and Steve Turner made a desperate plea for help to find a home suitable for Izaak, their ten-year-old son, and his sister Fifi. They revealed that they had been given notice to leave the current house and had to find a new home in time for Christmas.

Izaak, who is affectionately known as Izzy, was left blind and with mobility problems following the failed operation on 28 December 2006 to remove a flap of skin from inside his ear.

Since the Turner family’s sad story was published on Saturday, the family have been inundated with offers of help and messages of support from Islanders. Many people called to offer them a house to rent, but it was hotelier David Seymour whose offer was the perfect answer to their prayers.

Was also glad to hear local removal company Prestige Removals have offered their services free of charge along with a local decorator.

Totally agree with the above comment but why didn’t the states offer their assistance especially when someone is in desperate need like this family.

Yes there are good people out there and David Seymour you are an Angel you could see the importance of making sure this family was settled before Christmas. May god bless you

Amazing how once again its the public that comes to the rescue and the Government/States just stand back and do NOTHING.

How wonderful this couple and their children are sorted with a new home. Well done David Seymour.

To Disappointed JSYbean, this couple are not local and to those of you who say the couple have had no help from the States well I read on their website that they had been given J Category so that a suitable property if found could be leased.

I hope that Izzy thrives in his new home and that some form of cure can eventually be found for him.

Well done also to the removal company and the decorator in helping. I would happily make a donation to them should a fund be set up to secure Izzy any future treatment.

    Well done, Mr Seymour!

After the Barclays Brothers’ nasty selfishness you have restored my faith in humanity. Have a great Christmas both the Seymour and Turner families.
