OK, so what about alcohol?
Wednesday 17th December 2008, 2:57PM GMT.
From Mary Hair.
THERE is an appropriately named ‘angel’ of health, Andrew Heaven, whose remit is to make the display of tobacco products unlawful.
Retailers will have to cope with yet more irksome regulations and at least one specialist shop will be put out of business.
Committed smokers will continue their self-destructive lifestyle choice privately, paying more tax than non-smokers and alleviating the age profile imbalance by dying early.
Meanwhile, there are no proposals to protect the community from the disgusting, vomiting, urinating, violent, noisy, intimidating drunks who are a regular feature of town streets. Would the Health department care to approach this problem by making the display of alcohol unlawful?
