Police ask firms to help them fight crime
Thursday 18th December 2008, 2:59PM GMT.
POLICE are asking businesses to help them fight crime with a new booklet that explains how they can make their businesses safer.
Business Crime Reduction details how businesses can prevent and reduce crime, such as by installing good-quality CCTV system, alarms and security lighting. The booklet, which was produced in association with People Against Crime, includes a security checklist with sections dedicated to construction site security, retail security and office security.
In the last five years, commercial premises or office burglaries have halved and police hope that the booklet will help reduce the number even further. Around 2,000 copies of the booklet will be distributed to local businesses over the next few days and a copy will also be available online at www.jersey.police.uk.
States of Jersey Police crime reduction officer Bruce Liron said: ‘Every business has different needs. However, whether a business is large or small, good security is always a good investment.’
