Postman Pete and his special delivery
Saturday 20th December 2008, 9:58AM GMT.
HE delivers the goods on the radio every morning, but Channel 103 Breakfast Show presenter Peter Mac was doing it for real yesterday.
He swapped jobs with postman Ricky Le Quesne for the morning and hit the streets on two wheels, delivering letters and parcels around Maufant. Ricky won a poll of listeners and Jersey Post staff to beat eight other posties to host the Breakfast Show.
Ricky said: ‘It was fantastic, an absolute buzz. I got down there at about 5.30 am and had a run through with presenter Chris Halford. He asked if I wanted to go straight in and press the buttons or just do the talking, and I said I wanted to jump straight in. The early start is normal for me. I’ve been here for 30 years, so I’m used to it. I would like to think that I got the better deal, but he had a lovely day for it – it was ideal for him.’
Peter said that he also enjoyed the one-day job swap. He said: ‘It was a good laugh. It was very different though. When I normally go in, it’s just myself and a member of the news team. You’re talking to thousands of people, but you’re on your own, so it’s nice to see people. There are lots of them early in the morning.
‘Ricky did very well from what I heard. He was glowing. He said that he could have done another three hours.’
