Something is wrong when not one senior Member gets a position

From Chris Whitworth.
IN a recent edition of the JEP, the new make up of the ministry and scrutiny panels was published on the left-hand page while the Christmas speeches from our senior States Members were mentioned on the right-hand page.
Amazingly, not one of these longest serving Members, be they Senator, Constable or Deputy, were given positions of any sort within this latest arrangement.
Surely, this proves that there is definitely something fundamentally wrong with our system of government when such experience is so easily overlooked.
As for Chief Minister, just like Senator Walker before him, Senator Le Sueur did not face the electorate, and was also aware that he was not the public’s number one choice. Hopefully, some of our newly elected members have the drive and energy to initiate this change so desperately needed to our political system.
However, I shall not hold my breath, but may instead place a wager with Honest Nev that the next Chief Minister in three years time will also fit the criteria of not seeking re-election or being of the general public’s choosing.
