Trinity Church to benefit from art scheme
Saturday 3rd January 2009, 9:54AM GMT.
THE first piece of art bought by a developer under the Percentage for Art Scheme has been unveiled.
A sculpture of the crucifixion and a candle stand have been placed in Trinity Church by developer Billy McIntosh, who is undertaking the nearby Jardin de Puits development.
The second phase of the development will produce five houses.
The sculpture has been created by Stephen Cox and made from Egyptian porphyry – a stone from an ancient Egyptian quarry that was lost for 1,500 years. The Percentage for Art scheme allows developers to provide some public art as part of their schemes to help their case before the Planning Application Panel.
