Sports Personality nominations

THE shortlisted nominees for the Sportingbet Channel Islands Sports Personality of the Year include last year’s winner, Bath and England Saxons rugby winger Matt Banahan of Jersey.

He has four women challenging him this time, England netballer Serena Guthrie, National badminton champion Liz Cann and from Guernsey,world-ranked tennis junior Heather Watson and World bowls champion Alison Merrien.

The voting phone numbers are now open (cost 10p, with Sportingbet pledging to match the total with the proceeds going to disabled sport in the Channel Islands)
