Brighter outlook as windsurfers target Aland trials

THE outlook for Jersey’s windsurfers making the NatWest Island Games in Aland is considerably brighter.
Money had made it seem almost certain that none would travel with the Island squad this summer
However, Justin Horton, who is the president of the Jersey Association of Windsurfers, said many are still keen to take part.
He said: ‘Before Christmas it looked doubtful that we would be able to get a team together, but in the last week or so I have spoken to a number of people who are interested in going.
‘Chris Le Masurier, Michael Millar and Steve Melia, who were at the last Island Games, have all said they would like to go, as have a couple of others, and I may be available myself. Part of the problem is being able to take time off work, and another part of it is sponsorship. We do not yet know how we would finance it. But it is looking more likely now, and we will be holding trials during the spring series in April.’
