MacDonald impresses as he takes title treble
Monday 12th January 2009, 2:58PM GMT.
Jersey’s Jamie MacDonald has been flagged up as the Channel Islands’ best bowls player having floored Guernsey opposition at this weekend’s CI Indoor Bowls Finals.
Macdonald (21) won three out of three matches at Grainville – stunning Guernseymen Neal Mollet in the men’s singles and Kris Bichard in the men’s U25 singles, and teaming up with Thomas Greechan to take the men’s pairs from Sarnian duo Matt Le Ber and Gary Pitschou.
Such a terrific performance seals MacDonald’s place in the Channel Islands team which travels to Belfast later this year for the British International Finals.
Jersey Indoor Bowls Association senior vice president Ty Thomas said: ‘Jamie is our best player in the Channel Islands at the moment. In Belfast he’ll be up against the rest of the British Isles which will be a different ball game entirely, but he’s definitely the right person to go.
