The college youngsters yesterday won the English Schools Football Association’s eight-school CI competition at the FB Fields where they defeated St Michael’s Preparatory 2-1 in the final.

Sean Lambert was the match winner with two excellent goals and it was a super tournament for Jersey schools as La Moye took third place as a result of a 3-0 win against Guernsey’s Beechwood with goals by Harrison Moon, Jason Stokes and William Kaye.

De La Salle coach Alan Jouanny said: ‘It’s a great feeling when you win and you don’t expect it so I’m really pleased for the players. It’s been another brilliant tournament and the attitude of all the players taking part from both islands has again been exceptional.’
