It’s not just in the ‘Millais Triangle’ where there have been strange goings on …

IT is not just St Ouen which has mysteries (JEP, 12 and 13 January). I live near Gorey and peculiar things have been happening in my drive.
First, about two weeks before Christmas, I was cleaning my car with all the doors shut but unlocked and the keys were inside on the driver’s seat. Suddenly, apropos of nothing, the car locked itself.
I fetched my spare manual key and unlocked the car. I retrieved the automatic key from inside the car, put it in my pocket, shut the unlocked doors and started the cleaning again.
Suddenly the doors locked again. Tired of this, I put all the keys well away from the car, and after a few minutes the car locked itself again.
I was aware that in my neighbour’s garage there was some faintly noisy activity going on, like men at work. What it was I don’t know, or if it was related to my problem. I have not had this locking problem before, or since, that afternoon.
Secondly, after Christmas holidays away, I returned to the Island on 3 January to find my electric garage door behaving very strangely. On zapping the control to open or close the door, the door would move correctly but then suddenly change its mind, either returning to the up position or the down position, sometimes several times, before finally doing what I wanted it to do.
This state of affairs continued until Sunday or Monday of this week when I realised that we were back to normal. But why?
