00607770_cropped.jpgTHE fashion retailer New Look today confirmed that it was interested in moving to Jersey — but it is refusing to reveal whether it is hoping to occupy the former Woolworths site.

Speculation is rife that the retailer is on the brink of buying the lease of the two-storey store in King Street which Woolworths had occupied since 1922.

New Look has confirmed for the first time that company officials have visited the Island to view potential sites, but declined to reveal if the former Woolworths site was on its wishlist.

A spokesman said: ‘We’ve been looking at sites in Jersey, but it is early days and nothing has been confirmed.’
More than 80 workers were made redundant in Jersey after Woolworths went into administration towards the end of last year.
