‘Come and help us’ plea
Saturday 17th January 2009, 10:00AM GMT.
MAJOR assistance is being sought by the Island’s surfing fraternity to help run the Eurosurf 2009 event in St Ouen’s Bay later this year.
Approximately 250 surfers are expected to compete in the event between 26 September and 4 October and Jersey’s Colin Crowther, the contest director, is appealing for assistance in every area to help the Jersey Surfboard Club run the spectacle smoothly and successfully.
Crowther is looking for an assistant contest director, head and assistant beach marshals, a team of beach marshals and a general team of helpers Crowther said: ‘We as a club want to make an impression on the European surfing community and this is why I’m now appealing for help.
‘It’s nine months away but there is an awful lot of work to be done and we need people with experience to help us out. The whole idea is to put together a team to pull together, have fun and of course to have the common goal of pulling it all off.’
• Anyone wishing to assist can obtain details from Colin Crowther, tel: 747703 or 07797 818586
