At Lee Valley Athletics Stadium, the Island Games and Jeux des Iles runner was in sparkling form as she followed up her bronze medal in the same event last year. Dawkins (pictured) finished her first round race in third place in 59.67 seconds.

In a very close semi-final she again finished third in 58.65 while in the final she improved against to finish second in 57.7 seconds. The first four in the final all achieved PBs, a remarkable feat considering that all the races were held inside a three-and-a-half hour timescale.

Young team-mate Molly Jéhan (14), in her first ever attempt at multi events, had a mixed bag of results having started very nervously with sixth place in the 60m hurdles and ninth in the high jump. Spartan colleague Sophie Twinam was also away last weekend and she claimed an indoor PB of 58.99 seconds to place fourth in a 400m Grandprix 2 race in Cardiff.
