Irony of Education Minister’s remarks on gay pupils
Wednesday 28th January 2009, 2:58PM GMT.
From Paul Williams.
IT was interesting to learn that Education Minister James Reed feels that support for gay and lesbian pupils in schools is adequate (JEP, 23 January).
Hopefully it is, but he is hardly one to know what is adequate, given that he was quoted as saying that homosexual activity was ‘unnatural and despicable’ during the debate prior to the homosexual age of consent being changed.
He was also quite vocal at the time in opposition to the law being amended. I hope that gay and lesbian students are aware of this and, more importantly, that Deputy Reed is aware of the subsequent irony of being indirectly responsible for their welfare.

So while Hetrosexual pupils are left to fend for themselves regarding relationships, Gay pupils are getting advise and help?
Why is the education department providing such help?
Shouldnt it be the responsability of the pupils to seek outside help with Gay relationships?
What next? Kids being given help in divorcing thier parents?
And what happens when a gay pupil is bullied in school because they have been seen to seek this guidence?
