Vincenti back with a bang
Wednesday 28th January 2009, 3:00PM GMT.
FORMER Jersey Footballer of the Year Peter Vincenti scored Stevenage’s winning goal last night in a 2-1 Blue Square Conference League victory at home to Kettering Town.
Vincenti, who the previous Tuesday returned from injury to score four times in Stevenage Reserves’ 5-1 win against Southend United Reserves, swept the ball home last night following a defensive error in the 83rd minute.
Kettering were only knocked out of the fourth round of the FA Cup last weekend, by Premiership Fulham.
Vincenti, who came on as a substitute, and his team-mates are now up to third place in the Conference table although they have played several games more than the teams around them.
Vincenti’s first two goals against Southend were cool finishes by passing the ball into the net.
Former St Peter and First Tower player Vincenti (pictured) volleyed home his hat-trick goal from six yards before he completed his haul with a well-directed header.
