A FORMER senior adviser at the Bank of England has been appointed as a commissioner of the Jersey Financial Services Commission.
Alastair Clark (59) (pictured) worked at the Bank of England for 36 years, from 1971 to 2007, latterly as adviser to the Governor on financial sector issues. During his career at the bank he served as UK alternate executive director for IMF Washington (1983 to 1985), UK alternate director for the European Investment Bank (1986 to 1988) and executive director for financial stability (1997 to 2003).
Most recently, following his retirement, he has been reappointed as adviser to the Governor to assist with the credit crisis. Currently Mr Clark is a non-executive director of Euronext LIFFE and a member of the supervisory board of NYSE Euronext.
He is also a trustee and chairman of the investment committee of the Bank of England pension fund, an honorary fellow of the Association of Corporate Treasurers, honorary visiting professor at Cass Business School and governor of King’s College School, London. Mr Clark has been appointed to fill a vacancy following the retirement of Scott Dobbie in November. His appointment was approved by the States last week.
