Nearer to France…?

PUTTING Jersey on the map has taken on a whole new meaning after an embarrassing blunder left the majority of Island hotels off the map in thousands of newly distributed Jersey Tourism accommodation guides.
Around 10,000 editions of the publication were sent out to UK consumers earlier this month containing incorrect references to the locations of over 100 Island hotels.
Establishments including L’Horizon and St Brelade’s Bay Hotel, found themselves listed as being in the St Clement area, while Corbière’s Highlands Hotel, which is described as having ‘unrivalled panoramic sea views’ is advertised as being in the centre of St Helier. The map’s grid reference places a number of Jersey’s leading hotels in the middle of the sea. Gorey hotels, including The Moorings and The Dolphin, appear to have made it all the way to the French coastline.
Citing a publishing error as the reason for the mistake David de Carteret, Jersey Tourism’s director (pictured), said: ‘We used a new map this year because we wanted to upgrade it and unfortunately the map references next to the hotel names were the wrong references and it wasn’t picked up. There are 180 pages in total with a lot of information on them and mistakes sometimes happen.

“Don’t blame me, I’m only the director.” Never heard of proof-reading, David?

I hope the satilite navigations will be adjusted accordingly otherwise the hire car holiday makers will be driving around all day long locating their hotels – I’m looking forward to a summer filled with chuckles!

Looks like another summer of map reading lost hirecar drivers.

Doh!!
It beggars belief.
Just as well that Jersey’s tourism industry is failing already. It wouldn’t have a hope in hell of surviving with this level of incompetency.

Just who is meant to ensure the information in the brochure is correct ?
If it is so obviously wrong can we assume its not a job anyone has.
Do we have a tourism department with no proof readers and no responsibility for accuracy.
If anyone not in a States job did this it would cost them the job they had.
Will they just laugh it off ?
Is that acceptable ?

Will the taxpayers have to fix it?
