New Look confirms interest in town site
Thursday 5th February 2009, 2:59PM GMT.
FASHION retailer New Look is poised to open in the former Woolworths site and has already offered jobs to several ex-staff, the JEP can reveal.
The budget clothes chain yesterday confirmed for the first time that it is in negotiations to buy the lease for all or part of the two-storey shop in King Street.
The JEP understands that at least five former Woolworths workers have already been offered jobs at the new store and are due to undergo training at the retailer’s shop in Guernsey.
Peter Robinson, spokesman for New Look, said: ‘New Look is delighted to announce its intention to open in Jersey and hopes to obtain the site of the former Woolworths store. We are unable to confirm further specifics as we are still in negotiations.’
