Jersey primed for big match
Friday 20th February 2009, 3:00PM GMT.
THIRD-placed Jersey play second-placed Barnes RFC at St Peter tomorrow in a game which will define how far they’ve progressed this season.
A week ago they beat the leaders of London Division I, Shelford. However, coach Ben Harvey argues that of all of the divisional sides they have played against, Barnes are the best.
And, with a points total of 422 for (the highest in the league) he is probably right. Barnes will score points against any opposition through their brand of 15-a-side rugby and they’re ambitious enough to want promotion to the National League.
‘It’s going to be difficult and I’m conscious that the harder we play, the more we put pressure on ourselves,’ said coach Ben Harvey. ‘But from our previous games we’ve grown in confidence; although rugby has a terrible habit of coming back to haunt you.’
