The petition prepared by Jersey depositors in Icelandic-owned Landsbanki Guernsey will be presented next week to the Lieutenant-Governor, General Andrew Ridgway.

The Islanders have been unable to access their savings since October last year and are still owed about £3.4 million, although they have had 30p in the pound returned from bank assets. Guernsey-based depositors in the bank are presenting their petition today.

A spokesman for Jersey-based Landsbanki investors, Eleanor Monaghan, said that the there was still some work to do before the Jersey petition will be ready for presentation.

I am glad this issue is going to the Queen, if I had to pick a person more responsible for these investors lack of thought and investigation in to this type of issue it world be her! Obviously the Queen was was well aware that a very small number of a British Crown dependancy were keeping their money in an Icelandic bank! The Queen was also to blame if you ask me of the Global financial slowdown which may have effected this overseas corporation!

Personally I also think that anyone who has had any overseas trouble should petition the Queen also I mean they are also Crown Dependency residents so they must get the full support of the British Government too!

Everyone in the World (and no that is not an exaggeration) was entitled to check what they are liable for when investing and who if anyone would come along and help pick up the pieces when their dodgy investments go Pete Tong!

I am personally in the middle of putting together a petition for the Queen because my overseas property has lost some of its value, so obviously even thought I knew the risks when I decided to buy, it must be someone’s responsibility and I am guessing its the Queen’s!

Seriously I am sorry that people lost money, it is not good but it is fair… you paid your money in and took your risks in full knowing there is no capital protection for non Icelandic residents. But most of all and I hope that all fellow islanders agree here, and join me to thank those investors for helping support local small businesses with your custom by boosting the capital lending ability of a local bank… Of course I am talking about Icelandic islanders!
